STOP TELLING WOMEN WHAT TO DO
Tatyana Fazlializadeh is a Black/Iranian artist who advocates her beliefs through her paintings. She addresses social and political issues going on in our society today. With her street art across the globe, she gives a voice to the many women being harassed by gender based street harassment and racism. Fazlializadeh's amazing project uses visual art to address ongoing issues that continue to be ignored in our society today. Women all across the globe experience street harassment that makes them feel uncomfortable and unsafe and Tatyana gives them a voice through her art.
Fazlializadeh is currently focusing her work in New York but her paintings are slowly becoming global as she hears women's stories from all over the world. She uses real women's voices and faces, and puts them in the street to not only remind other women that they're not alone but to remind men of the horrors women face everyday. Likewise, Tatyana addresses the experiences of anti-black racism experienced by the residents of New York through her public art. I admire the quotes that she chooses because they remind those who read them that people of color aren't going anywhere, perhaps encouraging them to change their ways. Her art gives hope for change and it addresses social issues that need to be fixed in our society.
